As you know the unveiling of the I’m A Piece Jigsaw project took place in Manchester this Friday. I was gutted that I wasn’t able to attend so I was uber pleased when I saw a few blogs entries that featured Friday’s event. These following few photos are taken by photographer Percy Dean who has been really kind enough to let me feature them on here and you can find a large gallery of photos taken by many other folks from that night on Craftivist -Collective’s Flickr page if you fancy checking more out! Looks like a great turn out and kudos to the Craftivist-Collective team who put together the whole installation (all of 600+ pieces!). And well done to all those who contributed towards this….there’s some exceptional pieces showing some serious sewing talent. Now I know I’m no sewing/embroidery extraordinaire but I was super chuffed when I spotted my wee jigsaw piece amongst all those pieces of loveliness while scrolling through the numerous photos I found online! Now that definitely helped cheer me up and compensated for not being able to be their in person myself! :)
Anyway, what I find beautiful from all this is how big a statement (oh and what a pretty on too!) we can make simply by collaborating with like-minded passionate people, through small gestures, to make a difference in the world…..or at least in the right direction to making one! I just LOVE how we can turn a political campaign into a peaceful and poetic one……..and with the right people power, I have no doubt we could move mountains!
So before I ramble on any further, here are a few selected photos from that night by Percy Dean:
And here are a few other blog posts about the event by Black Cat Originals and Swirly Thoughts – if you look closely, you may spot more of my jigsaw in these photos :) The next main installation will be held in Northern Ireland (Belfast I believe) in time for the G8 summit in County Fermanagh. I shall keep you posted more about this closer to time. x
