Sadly, my great intentions of actively blogging while undergoing all the wedding prep work for my friends in the last month was rather short-lived! It soon became apparent that there was simply far too much to do and organise for the ‘big day’ (I swear, you’d think it was me getting married…!) particularly the last two weeks in August, with refurb work to our bathrooms taking place and family arriving for the big occasion….all happening simultaneously!! So, it made perfect sense to temporarily disappear off the blogosphere and channel all my attention in getting through to this day….somewhat alive! ;) Which I did – yay! (Although, it does all seem to be a bit of a blur!)
And speaking of which….. this day, two weeks ago….was the BIG DAY….
It’s still quite surreal looking back and remembering the tight operation we ran early that morning, unpacking and setting up of all the stationery, props and wedding décor that we had brought up from London the night before. Months of planning, designing, making, styling, final prep-ing and checking….. and suddenly, every wedding-related thing I had lying about in the flat was being placed and assembled on site….in a mere 3-hour time frame! It really is an incredible feeling of excitement and gut-wrenching apprehension all mixed into one, because not only do you want it working out perfectly for yourself (having put my heart and soul into the work) but for the bride and groom too (in this case, my close family friends) Okay, granted that this isn’t all too alien to me being in the creative field but I guess every now and then, you tend to forget that bitter-sweet process…..and with this being my first proper full-scale wedding planning and styling since our own wedding, I think the pressure to get it (almost) perfect was definitely evident! If it wasn’t for my husband’s extra pair of hands and the support from the events staff at the Dairy, I probably would have had a much bigger challenge ahead of me…..so I’m extremely grateful to them for complying to all my instructions that morning! :)
Anywaaaaaayy, I thought I’d share with you a few ‘behind-the-scenes’ shots of the design and DIY elements I did for the wedding – most of which involved creating their whole stationery suite, table decor, hand-lettered signage and bespoke backdrops. I will be posting more photos from the wedding in the coming weeks so do stay tuned! In the meantime, let me wish you all a fantastic weekend!! xx
