[D.I.Y. Real Weddings] the official photos!

Lisa-Sandeep_Jo-Crawford-46

So, this has been a long-awaited post as I’ve been dying to share some of the gorgeous photographs from the lovely Buckinghamshire country wedding I helped design and style for my close friends back in September (you may have seen some of my earlier posts here and here).

Photographed by the lovely Jo Crawford, I’m sure you’ll agree when I say this girl definitely knows how to capture all those key candid moments and details so beautifully! I’ve always been a big fan of Jo’s work (her travel and food photography are just sublime! Do check her website and blog out when you get the time) so when she mentioned she was keen on branching out into wedding photography this year, I was only thrilled to get the chance to work alongside her on this wedding, especially being a big and important one for us both! When you put all the effort into making this day come together nicely for your friends, it really is an added bonus knowing you have someone there to capture it all (better than you ever hoped), that it brings a smile to your face every time you flick through the photos and take a trip down memory lane….you cannot get better than that! :)

I really am fortunate to get to know such incredibly talented friends let alone work with them on exciting projects. As much as I’d love to share the entire album, I hope this little ‘sneak peek’ paints a pretty picture of how the wonderful and fun-fuelled the day turned out. Thanks again Jo, for being amazing on the day and for letting me share these on the blog! I honestly cannot wait to work together again soon! ;)

(Ps. We’ve got the stationery suite from this wedding coming up next so stay tuned!)

[D.I.Y. Real Weddings] Behind-the-scenes sneak peek

MbM_DIY-REAL-WEDDINGS_MAINGosh it’s been a while, hasn’t it!?

Sadly, my great intentions of actively blogging while undergoing all the wedding prep work for my friends in the last month was rather short-lived! It soon became apparent that there was simply far too much to do and organise for the ‘big day’ (I swear, you’d think it was me getting married…!) particularly the last two weeks in August, with refurb work to our bathrooms taking place and family arriving for the big occasion….all happening simultaneously!! So, it made perfect sense to temporarily disappear off the blogosphere and channel all my attention in getting through to this day….somewhat alive! ;) Which I did – yay! (Although, it does all seem to be a bit of a blur!)

And speaking of which….. this day, two weeks ago….was the BIG DAY….

It’s still quite surreal looking back and remembering the tight operation we ran early that morning, unpacking and setting up of all the stationery, props and wedding décor that we had brought up from London the night before. Months of planning, designing, making, styling, final prep-ing and checking….. and suddenly, every wedding-related thing I had lying about in the flat was being placed and assembled on site….in a mere 3-hour time frame! It really is an incredible feeling of excitement and gut-wrenching apprehension all mixed into one, because not only do you want it working out perfectly for yourself (having put my heart and soul into the work) but for the bride and groom too (in this case, my close family friends) Okay, granted that this isn’t all too alien to me being in the creative field but I guess every now and then, you tend to forget that bitter-sweet process…..and with this being my first proper full-scale wedding planning and styling since our own wedding, I think the pressure to get it (almost) perfect was definitely evident! If it wasn’t for my husband’s extra pair of hands and the support from the events staff at the Dairy, I probably would have had a much bigger challenge ahead of me…..so I’m extremely grateful to them for complying to all my instructions that morning! :)

Anywaaaaaayy, I thought I’d share with you a few ‘behind-the-scenes’ shots of the design and DIY elements I did for the wedding – most of which involved creating their whole stationery suite, table decor, hand-lettered signage and bespoke backdrops. I will be posting more photos from the wedding in the coming weeks so do stay tuned! In the meantime, let me wish you all a fantastic weekend!! xx
